Cultural vestiges of the Old and New World

We welcome you to the museum of the Ethnographic Park and Botanical Garden Pirámides de Güímar. Enter this magnificent 19th century building, where Kon Tiki, the pre-Inca god of the sun, invites you to enjoy a cosy cultural space. In this unique setting, discover Thor Heyerdahl’s theory of possible contacts between ancient civilizations, examples of cultural parallels, and a photographic exhibition of the world’s step pyramids.

THE HYPOTHESES ABOUT THE ORIGIN OF THE STEPPED STRUCTURES OF TENERIFE

Did you know that the pyramids are oriented to the solstices?

View of the sunrise from Pyramid 2, on the Winter Solstice day.
During your tour of the different galleries, you can discover the construction details of the stepped structures and the scientific research carried out in the pyramid complex and in the Chacona Cave. Precisely, in 1991, scientists from the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias discovered and confirmed the alignment of the pyramids with the summer and winter solstices. Interesting, right? Come and experience the Casa Chacona Museum at your own pace!
