A CANARIAN RAVINE AND ITS FLORA

Sustainable Garden

This attractive garden at Pirámides de Güímar is the result of a collaboration with the University of La Laguna. It recreates a watercourse in a Canarian ravine. In addition to exhibiting the plant species characteristic of these environments, its stream is home to European eels, the only freshwater fish present in the Canary Islands. The rich local biodiversity that it integrates gives it its educational character, an aspect that promotes awareness about the conservation of the island’s nature. This space illustrates the various facets of sustainability including being environmental, economic and social.
